Surfing the Wild Atlantic Way
The Wild Atlantic Way is a tourism trail along the west, north and south coasts of Ireland. It’s about a 2,500 km drive along some of the most stunning Atlantic scenery in the world. Over the years we’ve been capturing some of this awesomeness from Connemara to Donegal.
In case you’re not aware, the west coast of Ireland - particularly Donegal in the North West - is an area blessed with world-class surfing waves. With a prevalent airflow from the south west and a mainly north-facing aspect open to Atlantic swells, this low-lying coastline is a true surfer's paradise. Perfect surf geology shapes triangulated reefs, river-mouth sandbars and assorted beach breaks can be found all over this region. Regular international competitions are also a feature.
